Communicating history through design

Ella Shegai is a young designer based in Norway, born in Siberia. After graduating from Paris X Nanterre University with a master of Arts, she studied design at The Oslo School of Architecture and Design.

With a background in art history, she implements cross-cultural styles, motives and associations in the product design context. She has an aesthetic and playful approach to design, exploring the versatility of shapes and structures.

Ella Shegai’s fascination for forms is reflected in the Arkiv bookend. Together with a row of books Arkiv creates a small architectural ensemble of arches and blocks. Allowing you to contemplate the changes of the vivid shape during the day depending on how the light fall on the curves. Throwing harmonious shadows.
