Norwegian minimalism

Emilie Stahl Carlsen is a Norwegian designer who recently graduated from Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences in Product Design. The young designer has gained distinction at exhibitions and been nominated at Bo Bedre's Designpris 2017 as ‘Newcomer of the year’ and her design Pidestall as ‘accessories of the year’.

With great attention to functionality and minimalism in her design process, she creates designs with meaning, purpose and function. Her designs are characterised by simplicity and a drive to develop perfection.

Inspired by her grandmother’s old woven basket filled with green plants that adorned the living room almost like a small jungle, Emilie Carlsen developed the plant box Pidestall. Her envision was to create simple flowerpots, which have a quiet presence.
